O’Toole’s Herb Farm
is a certified herb grower located on the outskirts of the small, sleepy town of Madison, in the center of North Florida.  The Herb Farm is situated in the middle of a section of family farm owned by Betty’s (‘B’) family since the 1840’s, now owned by ‘B’ and her husband Jim.  O’Toole’s Herb Farm, open since 1990, is a haven for all of their customers, both retail and wholesale.  Everyone enjoys a lazy stroll around the gardens, through the greenhouses or visiting the 2 old cracker houses converted into retail shops.

‘The PATCH’, the main garden, is a beautiful re-charger of the senses and a lovely spot for special occasions. Many of the workshops or seminars that take place at the farm during the spring and fall take place in ‘The Patch’.  The Anniversary Garden is somewhat enclosed and features a water garden.  It is a lovely, quiet place to pause and reflect.  The Butterfly-Hummingbird Garden is alive with ‘Flying Flowers’ in the spring, summer and fall.

Though organic farming methods, Jim and ‘B’ are providing stewardship with the land by growing a quality product, replenishing and maintaining the soil’s fertility while assisting nature’s balance.  No synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used.  O’Toole’s Herb Farm has been certified organic since 1991.

OHF's 5th JUST BECAUSE FESTIVAL was fantastic!  The bitterly cold windy February weather didn't keep many away from our festivities.  There were 26 speakers for the ongoing mini workshops.  Interesting, pertinent topics filled the day along with almost 30 vendors.  All and all, about 800 folks participated in making it such a special event.  A huge thank you goes out to the wonderful crew of workers and volunteers who helped make this day possible.  Remember to put SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2, 2008 on your calendar.  Many new workshop topics and speakers will be added to our array of popular favorites. Details on next year's festival will be posted later this year.  Come for the whole day or stop in on a workshop in progress.

The Herb Farm has two greenhouses and one shade house open to the public.  Over 350 varieties of herbs, perennials and vegetables are grown.  All are propagated on the farm using organic seeds when possible and existing plants for cuttings.  Plants are available for sale in 4” pots, gallons and some in 3 gallons.  We will only ship 4” pots, larger containers are for sale on site only.

Two quaint old cracker houses have been moved onto the farm and converted into shops and office space. They are loaded with all sorts of fabulous herbal creations, organic gardening supplies, baskets, books, terra cotta and regional art.  Some of the products carried in the shop will be available “on-line”.  These include Burt’s Bee, Crabtree & Evelyn’s Garden Line, Archipelago Candles, E. Barrett Herbal Soaps,  Microplane grater, Robert Rothschild Berry Farm food products, Mud Gloves and many other well known herbal products.  Also carried are many original and not so easy to find products including: Herbal Creations, teas and dried herb products out of St. Augustine, FL; ‘Herbie’ The Herb Body Pac, out of Spartanburg, SC; O’Toole’s Herb Farm mugs, potpourri and sachets to name a few.

If you can't visit us, be sure to at least take our photo tour....
